In bladder cancer cell lines, knocking down FTH1 collapsed the GSH–GPX4 antioxidant axis and triggered ferroptosis — an iron-dependent form of cell death. The GSH pathway was identified as the key resistance node in this in vitro model.
FTH1 knocked down
Bladder cancer cells lose ferritin heavy chain
GSH depleted
Cellular glutathione pool collapses
GPX4 disabled
Lipid-peroxide defence fails
Ferroptosis activated
Iron-dependent cell death induced
